about
Hard work, good work, and honest work. My name is Woody Burgess, and when I founded HDB Living in 2019, those were the principles I built the business on. With over a decade of hands-on residential construction experience, I quickly learned that staying true to those core values opens the door to incredible, unique, and complex opportunities.
Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to networking and partnering with some of the most skilled creators and artisans across Middle Tennessee. To tackle larger, more sophisticated projects, I wanted to build something even greater than a traditional contracting company.
My solution is Crafted Living - a curated collective bringing my favorite craftsmen and women in the region together under one banner. This approach allows me to continue working with my hands as well as helping lead and direct the vision of every project with the people I value. When you partner with Crafted Living, you aren't just hiring a contractor; you are opening the door to a dedicated group of professionals focused on treating your home with respect and building things right.
When I started out, I quickly realized that business principles and personal principles shouldn't be two different things. For me, it’s just about keeping it simple and trying to do right by people every day.
In reality, construction is a daily grind of problem-solving. Staying humble, paying close attention to the details, and communicating through the challenges is how you actually build trust and respect on a job site.
Ultimately, Crafted Living is focused on relationships. We’re just a group of local creators with the right skills, trying to build lasting connections with our clients and each other, one project at a time.
To the makers, creators, and tradies:
Crafted Living isn’t a one-man show, and it’s not a giant corporate construction firm. It’s a collective. I built this because I know how rare it is to find people who actually care about the details, show up when they say they will, and take pride in what they leave behind.
If you run a trade business, create custom work, or excel at what you do, let’s connect. Whether we are teaming up on a massive build or just bouncing ideas off each other, I’m always looking to expand this network with good people. Let’s build something great together.
word of mouth
“Shout out to Crafted Living! I had a 1970’s bedroom built in office space that badly needed an update. My priority was to have a custom built in that would be able to incorporate technology and functionality. Woody worked with me to make my vision come to fruition. His custom craftsmanship was extraordinary. He was delightful to work with and he communicated and showed up on time! I happily recommend Crafted Living for any custom projects you are considering!”

“Beyond painting, Woody has also done excellent carpentry and finish work for us at our rental property, including a beautiful feature wall that turned into a real focal point of the home. He also did a fantastic job in our main home—building custom built-in bookshelves that look like they were always meant to be there—and installing built-in cabinets in our laundry room that added both function and polish.”
-Lauren
“Communication was great throughout the process. Woody was clear, responsive, and thoughtful about expectations and timing, which made the entire experience easy and stress-free. His partners, Cory and Chance, were also great to work with—professional, dependable, and clearly aligned with Woody’s high standards. If you’re looking for a team that takes real pride in their work and delivers high-quality results, Woody (and crew) are people we’d confidently recommend.”

“Working with Woody is a true joy and feels effortless. He is a true artist; he is someone who honors his craft and strives for perfection and beauty in all that he touches. It is a pleasure to work with him always. We also learn something new each time, as he is a patient and thorough educator. Our home has morphed into a sanctuary thanks to Woody’s detailed eye and flawless execution. I must say it again— he is not only a craftsman or tradesman, or whatever you want to call it, he is truly an artist, please don’t forget that.”
